JAYAPURA - As many as 100 civil servants in a number of Papua Provincial Government agencies, received training on the preparation and processing of statistical data, Friday (Friday (17/11/2023), in Jayapura City. The training, following the instructions of the Acting Governor of Papua, when meeting the Head of the local Central Statistics Agency (BPS), some time ago.
"This training was even ordered by the Acting Governor a few days after being inaugurated by the Minister of Home Affairs. So, through this training, I hope we can improve the ability of civil servants to compile and process data and further strengthen coordination and communication between Regional Work Units.
Especially the partnership with the Central Statistics Agency of Papua which is the supervisor of sectoral data," explained Assistant Secretary of Papua for Economic and People’s Welfare, Suzana Wanggai, on the sidelines of the training. Further explained, the Papua Provincial Government has issued Governor Regulation Number 50 of 2021 concerning Papua One Data Integration. This is with the aim of realizing accurate, up-to-date and accountable regional development data in order to support planning, implementation, evaluation and control of regional development based on electronic data.
The data collected also needs to pay attention to the principle of one data while still paying attention to the grouping of data that is confidential and can be published. However, the condition of quality data availability is not optimal, where one of the inhibiting factors, among others, is still the limited ability of the State Civil Apparatus in Papua Provincial Government to compile and process data to produce informative data in accordance with the needs of agencies and the community.
"That's why some time ago, we had a working visit at BPS Papua to discuss and exchange ideas to accelerate data availability." "So, through this training, we encourage how to maximize Regional Work Units to produce sectoral data that meets data principles." "Then how to provide Indigenous Papuan (OAP) data that meets statistical methodology," said Suzana. ***
