JAYAPURA - Stocks of fuel and staple food ahead of the Christmas and New Year 2024 celebrations are safe.
This is known after the sudden suspension of the Papua Provincial Government led by Assistant for Economic Affairs and Welfare of the Papuan People, Suzana Wanggai in Pertamina, Hamadi Market and some supermarkets in Jayapura City, Tuesday (12/12/2023).
"Fuel and staple food stocks are safe. Indeed, for diesel fuel, there is a long line at the Public Gas Station where we have asked for information from Pertamina. We immediately found a solution together."
"Staple food is safe, including the availability of rice, it is very sufficient for the durability for the next four months," he explained.
According to Suzana, her party will continuously monitor the development of fuel and Bapok by involving the Food Task Force.
The Food Task Force will go down directly to monitor and even act on rogue distributors.
"That's why we urge distributors and traders not to hoard or even increase excessive prices because there will be strict sanctions," she said.
About the increase in the number of food commodities from the monitoring results, Suzana said the price of chili has now reached IDR100,000 per kg.
"But this is an increase from distributors, so maybe we appeal to the public to be wise in buying."
"Or I invite you to plant chili in the yard because that's one solution," she urged.
Suzana on that occasion also appealed to the public not to make panic purchases of fuel and basic commodities because all goods are available until the next new year. ***
