JAYAPURA - Acting Assistant for Economic Affairs and Welfare of the Papuan People, Suzana Wanggai confirmed that the video of plastic rice circulation in the Cenderawasih Earth region is a hoax because it has not been proven to exist.
Therefore, she urged the public to be wise in assessing any information circulated on social media.
"Papua is still safe from plastic rice. There has been a statement from the National Logistics Agency also saying that Papua is safe, there is no indication whatsoever related to plastic rice," Suzana told reporters in Jayapura on Tuesday.
She also hopes that the public will immediately report to the authorities if they find suspicious things.
"I think if there is information (plastic rice) just report it, so that it can be immediately acted upon by the authorities," she hoped.
Meanwhile, Deputy Head of the National Logistics Agency of Papua and West Papua Regional Office, Mara Kamin Siregar, stated that information related to the circulation of plastic rice videos in the local area was false information.
"God willing, if for the (Papua) region we are safe (free from plastic rice)," Mara said.
He also asked the public not to be easily influenced or provoked by issues and news whose source is not yet clear.
Traders are asked to pay more attention to every item or product they sell so that things do not happen that are desired.
"I think it's better to report if you find goods or products that are not under what they should be," he said. ***
