JAYAPURA - The Papua Provincial Government has written to all campuses (domestic and foreign) to ensure the repayment of arrears in the payment of the Papua Superior Students (SUP) scholarship program for the July-December 2023 period.
This was conveyed by the Acting Secretary of Papua Derek Hegemur, after submitting the Budget Implementation Document (DPA) of the 2024 Papua Regional Apparatus Work Unit, at the Governor Office, Jayapura City, Tuesday (1/23/2024).
"The Papua provincial government has written to campuses that we will immediately pay or realize scholarships on all campuses."
"The point is related to scholarship payments in general, the Papua Provincial Government will be assisted by 9 regencies and cities," explained Derek.
Previously, Derek assured the parent representatives at the local Governor's Office, to immediately pay the outstanding scholarships for the Papuan Superior Students. The 2023 scholarship fee will be paid this week at the latest.
Meanwhile, the budget provided to pay the arrears of the 2023 SUP scholarship amounted to IDR 116.8 billion.
The budget is sourced from nine districts/cities in Papua Province. Including support from the Acting Governor in three new autonomous regions namely Highland Papua, Central Papua and South Papua.
"Certainly, the ability to pay these scholarship arrears was generated after a follow-up meeting on the completion of the FY 2023 SUP scholarship and its sustainability."
"The meeting was held for two days at the Governor's Office involving regents and mayors in the Main Province, including the Home Minister and representatives from the three New Autonomous Regions (DOB)," he concluded. ***
