JAYAPURA - The definitive head of the Papuan Provincial People's Assembly for the 2023-2028 term was officially inaugurated by the Acting Governor of Papua, Ridwan Rumasukun.
The ratification of Nerlince Wamuar as Chairman of MRP, Roberth Horick as Vice Chairman I and Max Abner Ohee as Vice Chairman II, took place at the local Governor's Office, Jayapura City, Monday (12/2/2024).
Governor Ridwan in his direction strongly asked the head of MRP Papua to pay attention and encourage the channeling of aspirations for complaints from customary parties, religious people, women and society in general regarding the rights of indigenous Papuans.
"As well as facilitating follow-up resolution and giving consideration to the Papuan House of Representatives, Governors, Regional People's Representative Council in District/City and Regents/Mayors regarding matters of protection of the rights of indigenous Papuans," hoped Rumasukun.
According to the Governor, MRP has the task and function of giving consideration and approval to the pair of candidates for Governor and Deputy Governor proposed by the Papuan House of Representatives.
On the other hand, giving consideration and approval to the draft of Special Regional Regulations submitted by the Papuan House of Representatives together with the Governor.
However, ahead of the February 14, 2024 elections, his party invited MRP Papua to make the general election a success.
"So that the elected leader will be able to encourage development on this land," he said.
Nerlince Wamuar will soon conduct working visits to various regions on how to grant political rights to indigenous Papuan legislative candidates in the 2024 general election.
Because five years ago, almost all parliaments in the land of Papua were majority occupied by non-OAP. ***
