JAYAPURA - A total of 658 elementary school students at the elementary / MI, junior high / MTs. and high school / vocational / MA levels in Jayapura City received scholarship assistance in 2024.
The handover of aid by the Acting Governor of Papua, Muhammad Ridwan Rumasukun, Friday, at the Governor's Office, Jayapura City, Friday (16/2/2024).
The Governor on that occasion advised all elements of the leadership and implementation of Baznas Papua to improve the quality of performance and the achievements that had been achieved previously.
"That way, the achievements of Infaq Zakat and Alms management in Papua can continue to be optimized to provide greater benefits," he said.
Meanwhile, the handover of scholarship assistance, he continued, is a real form of Baznas Papua's work that needs to be appreciated. Because through efforts to improve the quality of Human Resources, Papua will stand equal with other provinces in Indonesia.
"I hope all parties support this program so that there are no more out-of-school children in Papua," he said.
Chairman of Baznas Papua, Merza Edy Nadzari said the scholarship recipients were underprivileged outstanding students. Hundreds of these students are also spread across seven regencies/cities in Papua.
"There are those who are recommended to be incapable and non-Muslims, we take it from the Infaq fund. This scholarship assistance is for education costs for one semester, so every year there are two stages of providing scholarships," he explained. ***
