JAYAPURA - All Regional Governments in Papua Province have agreed to handle inflation control, and stunting and accelerate the reduction of extreme poverty in 2024.
This agreement resulted from a meeting between the Papua Provincial Government and the local governments of nine districts/cities, on Monday (19/2/2024).
Papua Acting Regional Secretary, Derek Hegemur on that occasion confirmed five agreements resulted from the meeting.
First, strengthen the role and function of the Governor as a Representative of the Central Government through regular coordination, monitoring and evaluation by integrating the monitoring of stunting handling, accelerating the reduction of extreme poverty and controlling inflation.
Second, district/city governments throughout Papua routinely coordinate and report to the government regarding data and developments in stunting handling, accelerating the reduction of extreme poverty and controlling regional inflation.
"Third, implementing a convergence strategy for handling stunting, accelerating the reduction of extreme poverty and controlling regional inflation is carried out in an organized, tiered and integrated manner between the Central Government, Regions and stakeholders," he explained.
Meanwhile, controlling regional inflation by strengthening synergy and expanding Inter-Regional Cooperation in all regencies and cities throughout Papua Province. "Especially surplus or deficit areas in maintaining the availability of food commodity supply," explained the Secretary.
The fifth, added the Secretary, the Papua Provincial Government, the heads of Regional Apparatus Organizations and the Driving Team of Empowerment and Family Welfare routinely carry out the functions of coordination, monitoring, evaluation and implementation of stunting handling programs and accelerating the elimination of extreme poverty.
Yapen Islands Acting Regent R William Manderi appreciated the initiation of the Papua Provincial Government to encourage collaboration in the context of handling inflation control, stunting and extreme poverty can be realized.
"We appreciate the governor for this collective agreement and for that, in 2024 the Yapen Regency Government will carry out the maximum results of this agreement," he concluded. ***
