JAYAPURA - The Regional Archives and Library Office (DAPD) of Papua will immediately provide a Digital Reading Corner room at the local Governor's Office, to increase reading interest for visiting guests.
According to the Acting Head of DPAD Papua, Achmad Djalali, the proposal has been submitted in writing to Regional Secretary, Derek Hegemur for approval.
"From our observations in the Governor's Office, especially on the 2nd floor, there are often guests visiting and waiting inside or in the office room."
"So we have the thought to hold a Digital Reading Corner room. It will be librarians who can help visitors or guests at the governor's office there," explained Achmad on Monday.
He said, currently DAPD Papua is no longer waiting for people to come read in regional libraries. But began to make a "pick up the ball" movement by providing services to increase people's reading interest.
Because in addition to the program of providing Digital Reading Corner space that has been placed at Sentani Airport, Jayapura Regency, a number of similar programs have also been implemented. Such as mobile library service programs at a number of points as well as in several elementary schools in Jayapura City and Regency, including reading parks.
"The Digital Reading Corner room is quite attractive because it is electronic as at Sentani Airport, Jayapura Regency, Prison, and Uniyap."
"The point is that DAPD Papua continues to try to increase interest in reading through new or existing programs. We also increase the human resources of librarians with the aim that people's interest in reading can increase," he said. ***
