JAYAPURA - Acting Governor of Papua Muhammad Ridwan Rumasukun welcomed the implementation of the 2024 Senior Official Meeting (SOM) and Joint Ministerial Committee (JMC).
He also congratulated and hoped the two big agendas would produce positive things for Papua and Papua New Guinea.
"I welcome the delegates and appreciate the two major agendas that have chosen the city of Jayapura, Papua."
"The activity is a new history for Papua where two Foreign Ministers (Indonesia and PNG) together set foot in Papua for the first time," explained Ridwan after welcoming Papua New Guinea's Foreign Minister Justin Wayne Tkatchenko, in Jayapura City, Wednesday (8/5/2024).
Ridwan on that occasion also hoped that the meeting of the two Foreign Ministers could influence the growth of various aspects in Papua.
"I invite the delegates to see opportunities for cooperation, especially in sports, where Papua has an international class sports venue, which can be used at events in the Pacific region."
"Then cooperation in the economic sector, by making Papua the entry point for exports/imports in the Pacific/Asia region, which needs the support of sea connectivity in the North and South regions. Sentani Airport has been designated by the Minister of Transportation as an international airport," concluded Ridwan at the opening of SOM and JMC. ***
