Jayapura – The sacrificial animal assistance was handed over by the Acting Regional Secretary of Papua, Derek Hegemur symbolically at the Baiturrahim Grand Mosque in Jayapura City, received directly by Uztad H. Abd. Kahar Yelipele, M.Pd.I and other mosque administrators.
Meanwhile, the Acting Regional Secretary of Papua was accompanied by the Assistant Secretary for Economy and Development M.B Setyo Wahyudi, the Head of Communication and Informatics, Jerry Agus and the Acting Head of the Papua Provincial Plantation and Livestock Office, M.P Koibur.
The Acting Regional Secretary of Papua said that the distribution of sacrificial animals assisted by the Governor would be given directly to mosques in Jayapura City, Jayapura Regency, Sarmi and Keerom Regency.
"We hope that the sacrificial animal assistance from the Governor will be distributed to the poor who are entitled to receive it because Eid al-Adha teaches us to share with our neighbors and the poor," he explained.
Meanwhile, Assistant Secretary for Economy and Development M.B Setyo Wahyudi, who was met by reporters, said that the sacrificial animals assisted by the Governor of Papua had been distributed by the relevant agencies to mosques in Jayapura, Keerom and Sarmi.
According to him, the Eid al-Adha celebration teaches us the value of sacrifice and humanity, his party invites Muslims in Papua to further increase piety to Allah SWT.
"As well as instilling the spirit of humanity and sacrifice of fellow people, especially in the midst of a diverse Papuan society," he said.
He added that this year's Eid al-Adha celebration is expected to be a momentum to maintain harmony between fellow religious people in the land of Papua. "Hopefully this Eid al-Adha celebration will further strengthen our togetherness, and we will both maintain a peaceful Papua and make Regional Elections a success so that it can run safely and successfully," he explained.
He added that sacrificial animals distributed to districts/cities have been inspected by technical agencies. With this examination, the selected animals are certainly eligible to be sacrificed.
Previously, the Acting Head of the Papua Provincial Plantation and Livestock Office, MP Koibur, explained that the availability of sacrificial animal stocks in Papua Regencies/Cities was safe.
"The stock of sacrificial animals in 9 regencies/cities throughout Papua is safe and healthy, we monitor the health of all sacrificial animals so that the sacrificial animals are of high quality," he said.
The stock of sacrificial animals this year is 2,490 cows. Of these, the need for sacrificial animals is only 2,190 heads. There are 693 goats, while the need is only 309 heads.
Thus, he said, there are many sacrificial animals in Papua. "Regarding the stock of cows and goats for this year in districts/cities in Papua is safe and large," he concluded. ***
