JAYAPURA - The Papua Regional Revenue Management Agency released as many as 19,953 motor vehicles taking advantage of the fine exemption program which has been rolled out since July 2024.
According to the Acting Head of the Papua Regional Revenue Management Agency, Hans Hamadi, motor vehicle tax revenue (PKB) reached IDR 29.2 billion in the period from July to August 2024.
The program is very effective in boosting Papua motor vehicle tax revenue.
"Revenue can reach IDR 1 billion per day, if it is usually only IDR 300-500 million," explained Hans, in Jayapura, Thursday (3/10/2024).
Hans said the realization of Vehicle Tax revenue in Papua in the last two months, after the implementation of the exemption from tax fines, increased dramatically.
Meanwhile, the average of Vehicle Tax revenue before the program was IDR 8.3 billion per month for January-June 2024.
"Meanwhile, after the program was running, there was an increase of 118 percent in July and 175 percent in August."
"So that in July last year, Vehicle Tax revenue amounted to IDR 18.2 billion. An increase of 118 percent from the average revenue per month before the exemption of fines. In August, Vehicle Tax revenue was IDR 23 billion," he said.
It is known that the motor vehicle tax fine exemption program has been extended since July because of the high public interest in payments.
"With the permission of the governor, this program has been extended until October 21, but it is possible that it will be extended again," he said. ***
