JAYAPURA - Acting Governor of Papua, Ramses Limbong invites local Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) community to unite to build Papua within the framework of the Republic of Indonesia.
He also encouraged NU to use differences as a strength to jointly contribute to realizing a better, fairer, and more prosperous society ahead of the upcoming 2024 simultaneous regional elections.
"Let's maintain the spirit of unity in the midst of existing diversity. Within the framework of tolerance, let us respect, appreciate each other, and work together for mutual progress."
"Because with good collaboration between NU and the government, God willing, we can build a better Papua in the midst of a national leadership transition and more specifically regional leadership through simultaneous elections which will be held in a few moments, to be precise on November 27, 2024," explained Governor Limbong at the inauguration of the Papua Provincial Nahdlatul Ulama board, in Jayapura City, Sunday (6/10/2024).
According to Limbong, the agenda for the inauguration of the NU Papua management this time is not only a celebration, but also strengthens the joint commitment to bring the mission of "Rahmatan Lil Alamin" towards the empowerment of the Nahdliyin in the Land of Papua.
"So I would like to congratulate the newly inaugurated administrators. This task is not just a position, but a mandate that must be carried out with full responsibility."
"Because we all know that Nahdlatul Ulama has a long history in the struggle for society, especially in prioritizing the values of tolerance, justice, and diversity," he said.
Meanwhile, Limbong added, the theme of this inauguration is "The Management of Nahdlatul Ulama of Papua Province, Rahmatan Lil Alamin". This theme is very relevant to the current government context. The concept of Rahmatan Lil Alamin reminds us of the importance of creating a peaceful and harmonious environment, where every individual, regardless of background, can feel valued and accepted.
"This means that through the empowerment of the Nahdliyin, we strive to improve the welfare of the community, especially in the fields of education, economy, and social."
"So I believe that the newly inaugurated NU management will play an active role in creating programs that empower its members and the wider community," he said. ***
