JAYAPURA - Acting Governor of Papua, Ramses Limbong encourages vocational schools specializing in culinary majors to produce new food using local ingredients.
So, the local Papuan ingredients can be presented in offices and hotels throughout Papua. It is possible that it can be used as a free healthy meal menu for the central government program.
"This is a challenge that must be created by schools and the younger generation to make food menus made from local ingredients such as sago and its derivatives," he said in Jayapura, Wednesday.
Not only that, Governor Ramses Limbong also encouraged hotels in the region to start serving food using local ingredients. That way, we begin to raise local Papuan food ingredients that are better known to the guests who visit.
"Hospitality must take advantage of local wisdom such as sago, tubers and other ingredients because the taste of these ingredients is no less delicious from outside Papua," he said.
According to Ramses, if the guests like the menus with local ingredients, these products can be marketed well to trigger an economic increase in the lower level of society.
"I hope that all cakes served at the hotel use local ingredients such as sago, so local products can become the mainstay menu at the hotel, especially for breakfast to support the sustainability of local products," he said. ***
