JAYAPURA– Acting Governor of Papua, Ramses Limbong, has called on all Papuans to uphold peace and harmony during the month of Ramadan. He emphasized that the strong interfaith tolerance in Papua should continue to be preserved.
"Year after year, we hope that all communities in Papua maintain a peaceful atmosphere during Ramadan. Religious tolerance in Papua has been strong, so there is nothing to worry about," said Ramses.
He added that the Indonesian National Armed Forces and National Police will play an active role in ensuring public security and order during Ramadan.
"There are always potential security challenges, but the Indonesian National Armed Forces and National Police will be actively involved in maintaining a peaceful situation," he stated.
Beyond security efforts, the regional government is also preparing special programs for children during school holidays. Ramses explained that these initiatives aim to keep children engaged in positive activities during their time off.
"We will create activities for children, so they can remain productive and benefit from their school break," he added.
Meanwhile, Brigadier General Thevi Sebua, Deputy Commander of the XVII/Cenderawasih Military Region, affirmed that his team is ready to safeguard stability throughout Ramadan.
"We will conduct routine patrols and coordinate with the Papua Provincial Government to ensure a peaceful and secure environment," he said. ***
