JAYAPURA – The Acting Governor of Papua, Ramses Limbong, personally inspected the stock and prices of essential goods in Jayapura on Tuesday (March 18, 2025).
The unannounced inspection was conducted at traditional markets, distributor warehouses, and modern retail stores to ensure price stability ahead of Eid al-Fitr.
Ramses confirmed that the food supply, including rice and eggs, remains secure. "Prices are stable, with no significant increases," he stated.
However, he noted that fish prices at PPI Hamadi varied without a clear standard. "Better oversight is needed to keep prices under control," he said.
In modern retail stores, the price of beef was found to be IDR145,000 per kilogram, exceeding the standard range of IDR125,000–135,000.
According to him, this price difference is still understandable due to distribution and location factors. ***
