JAYAPURA – Acting Governor of Papua, Ramses Limbong has called on the media in Papua to play an active role in ensuring the success of the Regional Election Re-Vote, scheduled for August 2025.

He emphasized the importance of accurate and balanced reporting to maintain regional stability.

"The media plays a crucial role in delivering truthful information to the public. It must proceed safely and peacefully to prevent another re-vote in the future," Ramses said during an Iftar gathering with journalists in Jayapura on Friday (March 21, 2025).

He hopes that the media will assist in educating the public about the importance of maintaining order during re-vote.

With objective reporting, the public can access accurate information regarding the stages and regulations of the re-vote process.

Ramses also emphasized that the neutrality of civil servants and security forces is a crucial factor.

He urged journalists to monitor and report any signs of violations in the democratic process.

"We want the Regional Election Re-Vote to run smoothly without any vested interests at play. If there are any violations, please report them through the proper procedures," he stated. ***
