JAYAPURA – Acting Governor of Papua, Ramses Limbong, emphasized that future development in Papua must have a tangible impact on communities, reaching to the villages.
He made this statement after submitting the 2024 Local Government Financial Report (LKPD) to the Papua Representative Office of the Audit Board of Indonesia (BPK) on Wednesday (April 9, 2025).
According to Ramses, several development programs have not been running optimally and need to be evaluated.
"Going forward, development in Papua must improve, with a direct and positive impact on the people," he said.
He highlighted the social and economic conditions of the Papuan people, which still require serious attention.
"Therefore, development must be more targeted and based on local needs," he added.
Ramses also stressed that any shortcomings in the 2024 programs would be accounted for.
If discrepancies are found in the financial reports, sanctions will be imposed under regulations.
"If something is not right, of course, there will be sanctions," he said. ***
