JAYAPURA – The Papua Provincial Government, through the Regional Revenue Agency (Bapenda), reported that the realization of local revenue (PAD) reached 11.05 percent, equivalent to 56.9 billion rupiah, from the 2025 PAD target of more than 515.4 billion rupiah.
This achievement is based on the reconciliation data of the Regional Revenue Agency as of February 2025.
Acting Head of the Tax Division at Regional Revenue Agency of Papua Province, Ardy Bengu, said there are four components of Local Revenue: regional taxes, regional levies, legitimate income from regional asset management, and other legitimate PAD sources.
"The 56.9 billion of Local Revenue realization consists of revenue from regional taxes, regional levies, and their components," Ardy said.
He mentioned that some efforts must be made primarily to achieve the Local Revenue target in the area of regional taxes by increasing taxpayer compliance and awareness, particularly in the motor vehicle tax sector.
"Based on data from Samsat, there are still many who are delinquent in paying taxes. Therefore, it is necessary to encourage taxpayers to be compliant and aware of their tax obligations," he stated.
In addition, one way to boost local revenue is to maximize the use of provincial government assets that are currently controlled by other parties.
"Provincial assets are being reclaimed from third-party control so they can be managed to generate local revenue. One such asset that has already been taken over and is operational is the Hamadi Fishing Port (PPI), which contributes regional levy revenue," he explained.
Another effort to increase local revenue is by improving public services, such as simplifying the process for taxpayers to make payments.
Furthermore, to achieve the target, contributions from regional apparatus organizations are needed.
"With support from the regional apparatus organizations, we can increase our local revenue," he concluded. ***
