JAYAPURA – The Papua Provincial Government has confirmed that the construction of the Jayapura General Hospital (RSU Jayapura) is 90 percent complete. The hospital is set to be inaugurated in June 2025 by the President of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto.
Acting Governor of Papua, Ramses Limbong, along with Acting Regional Secretary Yohanes Walilo and several heads of regional government agencies (SKPD), conducted an on-site inspection of the hospital in Abepura, Jayapura City, on Friday morning (April 11).
“The construction is nearly finished. Currently, we are in the final stages, and it will be 100 percent completed by June,” Ramses stated.
He noted that the visit was not only to inspect the main building but also to ensure that road access to the hospital is in good condition.
Ramses expressed gratitude to the Ministry of Health for the establishment of the hospital. He explained that RSU Jayapura serves two primary functions: as a general hospital and as a teaching hospital.
“This will function both as a healthcare facility and a learning center for medical students from Cenderawasih University,” he remarked.
The hospital is designed as a type B facility and is expected to become a regional referral center, serving not only Papua but also neighboring Pacific nations.
“The main priority is to serve the people of Papua, especially those living in Jayapura City and its surrounding areas,” Ramses emphasized.
On this occasion, he also highlighted the importance of readiness in supporting infrastructure so that the hospital can operate optimally once it becomes fully functional. ***
