JAYAPURA – Acting Governor of Papua, Ramses Limbong, emphasized the importance of all elements of society in preventing sexual violence and harassment.
According to Ramses, acts of violence against women, in any form, are unacceptable. He stressed the importance of joint supervision according to each party's responsibilities, including the active role of the police.
“We will carry out continuous guidance and outreach to prevent such incidents, especially sexual harassment committed by those closest to the victims,” said Ramses.
He underlined the urgency of educating the public and noted the importance of strengthening faith and religious devotion as a defense against sexual crimes.
“We must protect those who should be protected, not harass them. This effort starts with ourselves and our surrounding communities,” he stated.
Ramses also encouraged the involvement of religious and community leaders in raising awareness and providing education on the issue. ***
