JAYAPURA– Acting Governor of Papua, Ramses Limbong, has rejected the proposal of taking out a bank loan to finance the Revote. He emphasized that he does not want to burden the next administration with new debt.
The Governor stated that he will soon meet with the Papua Provincial Parliament (DPR Papua) to find a funding solution for the revote that does not raise legal or financial issues.
“The revote will proceed as scheduled, but the budget must be carefully planned without violating regulations,” he said.
According to him, efficiency is the main strategy to meet budgetary needs. The government will selectively review and reallocate spending from the Regional Budget.
The funds that may be used will come from the General Allocation Fund, while the Special Autonomy Fund, Special Allocation Fund, and Transfer to Regions and Villages are not eligible to be used.
“We will review the available fiscal space. The government will also evaluate components of the budget of the General Election Commission that could be reduced,” he added.
“For example, the budget for technical guidance. If possible, that budget will be removed or rationalized,” he concluded. ***
