JAYAPURA – Acting Governor of Papua, Ramses Limbong, expressed his appreciation for the implementation of the 2025Ekspedisi Rupiah Berdaulat(ERB), organized by Bank Indonesia in collaboration with the Indonesian Navy. He stated that the initiative not only ensures the availability of currency fit for circulation but also instills a sense of nationalism in remote areas.
“For us in Papua, this activity is very meaningful. It is proof that the state is present even in small, hard-to-reach islands,” said Ramses during the send-off ceremony for the ERB Papua team in Jayapura, Friday (May 16, 2025).
ERB Papua marks the third of 18 similar expeditions to be carried out this year. The team will visit five islands: Bromsi, Padaidori, Yapen, Numfor, and Bras. The expedition will take place aboard the naval ship KRI Tatihu 853 from May 16 to 22, 2025.
In addition to distributing an adequate amount of currency in proper condition, the team will also educate the public on the “Love, Pride, and Understand the Rupiah” campaign. Students and local residents will be invited to visit the ship and learn about the roles of the Indonesian Navy and Bank Indonesia.
According to Ramses, this approach is important in fostering public understanding of national sovereignty. “This initiative introduces the role of the state in safeguarding economic and territorial sovereignty, including the distribution of the rupiah,” he said.
He also called on all parties, including local governments, security forces, and communities, to support the successful implementation of ERB. “It is our responsibility to ensure that every citizen receives their rights, including the right to the official national currency,” Ramses emphasized. ***
