JAYAPURA – Papua Governor Ramses Limbong has proposed that heads of regional government agencies serve as flag ceremony inspectors at schools.
The governor stated that this initiative aims to strengthen student guidance regarding the dangers of drugs and alcohol, while also instilling the values of nationalism from an early age.
“Leaders of government work units can directly serve as ceremony inspectors during Monday flag-raising ceremonies at schools,” Ramses said.
He added that these moments could be used to provide students with important insights about nationalism, the dangers of drugs and alcohol, and the importance of maintaining order and discipline.
According to Ramses, acts of thuggery often stem from drug and alcohol abuse, which can severely damage the moral character of the younger generation. Therefore, he considers early education a key preventive measure.
“If young people are already affected by drugs, their potential to engage in anarchic behavior and fall into a cycle of thuggery becomes much greater, as what we must prevent early on,” he emphasized. ***
