JAYAPURA – The Plantation and Livestock Agency of Papua Province has ensured that all sacrificial animals to be slaughtered during Eid al-Adha 1446 Hijri are healthy and safe for consumption.
Health inspections are being conducted rigorously, both on livestock provided by the President and those from local farmers.
Acting Head of the Papua Plantation and Livestock Agency, Matheus Koibur, stated that his agency, in collaboration with district and city-level offices, has been monitoring the animals since the beginning of their distribution.
Blood sample testing and laboratory examinations are carried out at the Veterinary Center to ensure the animals are free from infectious diseases.
"All cattle donated by the President have been thoroughly examined and declared healthy and fit for sacrifice. The inspections include a minimum weight requirement of 800 kilograms as well as general health conditions," he said.
In addition to animals provided by the central government, Papua also has local livestock available for sacrifice.
According to data from the Papua Plantation and Livestock Agency, the cattle population in the region exceeds 59,000, with around 2,000 expected to be prepared for sacrificial purposes.
"Health monitoring is carried out at multiple levels, starting before the slaughter and continuing through to the meat distribution process to the community."
"Relevant agencies also oversee the slaughtering process at abattoirs and places of worship," he added. ***
