JAYAPURA – In celebration of National Children's Day 2025, Acting Governor of Papua, Agus Fatoni, collaborated with various Corporate Social Responsibility partners to deliver aid to schools across Papua. This time, the Papua Provincial Government partnered with Bank Papua, the Jayapura City Government, heads of regional agencies, Family Empowerment and Welfare, and other stakeholders to distribute the assistance.
The support provided included vitamins, milk, healthy snacks, iron supplements, and free health services for babies, toddlers, children, and teenagers. The activities took place at two locations: SD Inpres Bhayangkara and SD Inpres Angkasapura.
“Today’s event is a concrete form of our shared commitment to improving human resources, especially the young generation in Papua. We want to raise children who are smart, healthy, of high quality, and possess noble character,” said Fatoni at SD Inpres Bhayangkara, Jayapura, Papua, on Wednesday (July 23, 2025).
He emphasized that National Children's Day is a crucial moment to honor the younger generation, who will carry the torch of Indonesia’s future development.
“Today we celebrate National Children’s Day—an important moment for us to honor our children, the ones who will carry the baton of national development. This is a great opportunity. Today is your day, and you are everything,” said Fatoni.
Beyond the donations, Fatoni also motivated Papua’s children to keep learning and dreaming big. He shared his personal story—how he came from a village on the border of Lampung and South Sumatra, and yet today serves as the Acting Governor of Papua.
“Papuan children must be greater than me. I come from a border village and became Acting Governor. You are children of Jayapura City—you should aim higher, even become president,” Fatoni said, greeted with loud applause from students and teachers.
He stressed that economic hardship should not be a barrier to education. The government has provided various forms of support, including scholarships and the free education program initiated by the President of Indonesia.
“Now the President has declared education free for all. Don’t think that if you don’t have money, you can’t go to school,” he emphasized.
The event concluded with the signing of an official report on aid distribution between Bank Papua and the schools, as a joint commitment to support the education and well-being of children in Papua.
The Papua Provincial Government hopes this National Children's Day celebration will serve as a starting point to build a resilient, intelligent, and future-ready generation in Papua. ***
