JAYAPURA – Acting Governor Agus Fatoni, together with Deputy Minister of Home Affairs Ribka Haluk, officially launched the distribution of logistics for the Re-Vote of the Governor and Deputy Governor Election to regencies and cities throughout Papua Province. The event was held at the Logistics Warehouse of the General Election Commission in Jayapura City, Papua, on Monday (August 4, 2025).
“We are here at the launch of the re-vote logistics distribution for Jayapura City following the Constitutional Court’s decision, so we can continue our work and service for our beloved nation,” said the Deputy Minister of Home Affairs.
Highlighting Jayapura City’s strategic role as a symbol of democratic maturity in Eastern Indonesia, especially Papua, she urged all parties to safeguard the re-vote process to ensure it proceeds smoothly, safely, and peacefully.
“With cooperation, cross-sector coordination, and synergy between central and regional governments, this re-vote can be more than a repetition — it can demonstrate Papua as a model of democratic dignity,” she said.
Representing Minister of Home Affairs Muhammad Tito Karnavian, the Deputy Minister expressed appreciation for all stakeholders — including the General Election Commission, Election Supervisory Board, local governments, the Indonesian Armed Forces and National Police, and the community — who have worked hard toward a success re-vote.
“This spirit of collaboration is key to ensuring logistics arrive safely and that the PSU is peaceful, honest, and democratic,” she added.
She also called on local governments, particularly the Acting Governor and the regional leadership forum, to act as the central government’s extended hand in responsibly upholding constitutional duties, ensuring quality and timely implementation.
At the event, Chairperson of the Papua Provincial General Election Commission, Diana Dorthea Simbiak, described re-vote logistics as the vehicle of democracy, delivering people’s votes to be counted fairly, secured safely, and fully respected.
As of August 4, 2025, at 9.30 a.m, Diana reported that 473 ballot boxes had departed the logistics warehouse; 312 boxes had arrived at District Election Committees; 6 boxes at Sub-District Election Committees (PPS); and 5 boxes at polling stations. Most remaining boxes were still in transit and monitored through a 24-hour logistics tracking system.
“We are committed to ensuring the logistics arrive at least one day before voting, as mandated by law,” Diana confirmed.
Meanwhile, Acting Governor Agus Fatoni reminded all civil servants to use their voting rights wisely and responsibly.
“Vote according to your conscience. The civil servants must remain professional and neutral but stay informed about re-vote developments,” Fatoni said during the Joint Ceremony at the Jayapura Mayor’s Office Field.
The ceremony was attended by members of the Indonesian General Election Commission and Papua regional coordinator, Chairperson of the Papua Provincial Regional People's Representative Council, Papua Police Chief, Papua Attorney General, Commander of XVII/Cenderawasih Military Command, Mayor of Jayapura, and other guests. ***
