JAYAPURA – Acting Governor of Papua, Agus Fatoni, participated in the Coordination Meeting on the Readiness for the Repeat Voting of the Governor and Deputy Governor Election in the regencies and cities across Papua Province. This hybrid event was held via Zoom at the Papua Governor’s Office in Jayapura, Papua, on Tuesday (August 5, 2025).
The event was also attended virtually by the Deputy Minister of Home Affairs, along with in-person participation by the Commander of Military Region XVII/Cenderawasih, the Coordinator of Expert Staff for the Papua Regional Police Chief, the Head of the Papua High Prosecutor’s Office, the Commander of Silas Papare Air Force Base, the Commander of Naval Base X Jayapura, the Chairperson of the Papuan People's Assembly, representatives from the Papuan People’s Legislative Council, Regents and Mayors from across Papua Province, the Rector of Cenderawasih University, the Papua Provincial Leadership Coordination Forum, and other guests.
Fatoni expressed that this moment was an honor, as many parties were supporting the successful and smooth conduct of the Re-vote in Papua Province.
“Today, all of us from the Regional Leadership Coordination Forum at the provincial and regency/city levels are holding a coordination meeting to ensure that tomorrow’s PSU runs safely, peacefully, and successfully,” said Fatoni.
“We hope that revote — leading up to the election and inauguration of the new Governor and Deputy Governor — will proceed successfully, safely, and in an orderly fashion, as expected by all parties,” he added.
On the same occasion, the Chair of Commission II of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Muhammad Rifqinizamy Karsayuda, speaking on behalf of Commission II, expressed hopes that the PSU on August 6 would go well, especially regarding security.
“We have also participated in coordination meetings with all Regents and Mayors and the Regional Leadership Coordination Forum to ensure the proper distribution of ballots, the establishment of polling stations, and other preparations. On paper, everything is ready, and the Acting Governor is directly leading this process,” explained Rifqinizamy.
“Let us unite in prayer and take part in the voting process at each polling station. With the commitment of both the government and the people of Papua Province, this revote will pave the way for the election of the rightful Governor and Deputy Governor,” he added. ***
