JAYAPURA – Acting Governor of Papua, Agus Fatoni, together with Deputy Minister of Home Affairs, Ribka Haluk, monitored several polling stations during the implementation of the Repeat Voting for the Governor and Deputy Governor Election of Papua Province.
Also present during the monitoring were several key officials, including the Chairperson of the Indonesian General Elections Commission, Mochammad Afifuddin; a member of the Indonesian Election Supervisory Board, Puadi; the Chair of Commission II of the House of Representatives, Muhammad Rifqinizamy Karsayuda; and members of the Regional Leadership Coordination Forum.
They visited two polling stations in Papua, including TPS 06 at RT 05/RW01, VIM Village, Abepura Subdistrict, Jayapura City — where Mayor Abisari Rollo cast his vote — and TPS 33 in Hinekombe Village, Sentani District, Jayapura Regency — where Regent Yunus Wonda voted.
“Based on our observation, everything is going smoothly, orderly, and well-managed. Overall, based on field monitoring and reports from regional teams, the process has been safe and free of any significant issues,” said Acting Governor Agus Fatoni.
On the same occasion, Chairperson of the Indonesian General Elections Commission, Mochammad Afifuddin, stated that this monitoring was conducted to ensure the revote process runs as expected. He said that preparations and all other responsibilities under the General Elections Commission authority had been carried out to the fullest.
“We hope for support from all parties, including our journalist colleagues, to ensure that today’s voting process — from ballot casting, vote counting, to the final determination — goes smoothly. So that the elected representatives in Papua truly reflect the people’s will. From the organizer’s side, the General Elections Commission has done its utmost to fulfill its mandate,” he said.
“We also thank the Deputy Minister, Commission II of the House of Representatives, Indonesian Election Supervisory Board, the Acting Governor, Regional Leadership Coordination Forum, the Indonesian Military and Police, and all other stakeholders for their tremendous support of this process. We truly hope everything proceeds smoothly, just as we all wish,” he added.
The General Elections Commission also confirmed that all election logistics had been delivered to every polling station, including those in hard-to-reach areas such as Mamberamo Raya Regency, which faced logistical challenges due to overflowing rivers.
"The delivery of all election logistics has been completed, including those that arrived this morning due to delays caused by a dried-up river in Mamberamo. We monitored all the most remote polling stations, and the last deliveries in Mamberamo arrived this morning — initially inaccessible by boat due to dry rivers, so they were delivered by helicopter,” he explained.
Meanwhile, Deputy Minister of Home Affairs, Ribka Haluk, expressed her appreciation and gratitude to all parties involved in organizing the revote in Papua. She also hoped for high public participation so that the process could be completed successfully.
“There is only one province left in Indonesia, so we truly hope for full support from all Papuan citizens to ensure this revote is successful. Our great hope is that this can be finalized within this year,” said the Deputy Minister. ***
