JAYAPURA – Acting Governor of Papua, Agus Fatoni, commended the Repeat Voting for the Papua Governor Election, which was conducted safely and in an orderly manner. He described this re-vote as one of the most conducive in Papua’s gubernatorial election history.
“We are grateful. This must be maintained so that we can continue our activities, work, and worship properly,” Fatoni said in Jayapura on Thursday (August 7, 2025).
He noted that this success was the result of cooperation among all parties, who maintained stability and security during the August 6 voting process.
Fatoni also urged all citizens to preserve peace following the re-vote. He emphasized the importance of unity and acceptance of the results to be announced by the General Election Commission.
“Let us preserve everything and respect the entire process. Whoever is elected is God’s decree. We must accept it,” he said.
He added that, so far, there have been no reports of violations regarding the neutrality of civil servants during the re-vote. “To date, we have not received any reports concerning the neutrality of civil servants,” he stated. ***
