JAYAPURA – Although today is a national holiday commemorating the birth of Prophet Muhammad, the Papua Provincial Government continues to demonstrate strong commitment and dedication to work. All levels of regional leadership, from the Acting Governor of Papua to the Regional Leadership Coordination Forum, the Regional Secretary, Heads of Regional Apparatus Organizations, and technical officials, were present and actively carrying out their duties for the benefit of the people, regional development, and national welfare.
“Even though it is a holiday, here in Papua we remain enthusiastic and keep working — working for the people, working for the region, for the welfare of the nation,” said Acting Governor of Papua, Agus Fatoni, while leading a meeting with the Regional Leadership Coordination Forum at the State Building, Jayapura, Papua, Friday (Sept 5, 2025).
As a concrete form of this commitment, the Papua Provincial Government has prepared a series of important agendas to be held over the weekend. These include a National Unity Ceremony and an Interfaith Prayer Gathering across Papua Province, which will involve community representatives, religious leaders, traditional leaders, and government officials.
“We have planned activities for Saturday and Sunday. Once again, even on Saturday and Sunday, we keep working. There will be a national unity ceremony and an interfaith prayer gathering for all of Papua Province,” Fatoni said.
Additionally, Fatoni mentioned that the government will also distribute aid to several student dormitories, churches, mosques, and other places of worship. This step reflects the government’s genuine concern for supporting harmonious and mutually supportive religious life within the spirit of diversity.
“So on Saturday, Sunday, even during the weekend, we keep working hard. We work until late at night, and the next morning we wake up and still must keep working,” he stated.
Fatoni emphasized that the spirit of hard work should not diminish simply because of a holiday. On the contrary, through consistency and maximum effort, the results of development will be more evident for the people.
“For Papua, we must work hard so that Papua becomes more advanced, greater, and more prosperous,” he affirmed. ***
