JAYAPURA – The Papua Provincial Government reaffirmed its commitment to implementing an open, transparent, and people-oriented administration. Papua Governor Matius Fakhiri delivered this statement during the Thanksgiving Service and Papua People’s Festival in Jayapura on Friday (October 31, 2025).
In his address, Governor Fakhiri underscored the importance of collaboration and unity in developing Papua. He stated that the principles of love, honesty, and responsibility toward the people would guide the new administration.
“We are not the best, but we will do our best. We will work with heart, lead with love, and listen with humility.” Fakhiri told thousands of attendees.
Since being inaugurated by President Prabowo Subianto on October 8, 2025, the Papua Provincial Government has promptly taken strategic steps through coordination with national ministries and agencies. The development agenda focuses on five main areas: Education and quality human resources, Health, People-centered economy, Infrastructure and connectivity, and Good governance.
For the education sector, the Papua Government will expand scholarship opportunities, strengthen vocational schools, and promote digital learning. In health, it plans to develop telemedicine services and floating hospitals to reach both coastal and highland regions.
For economic development, the government is promoting agriculture, fisheries, cooperatives, and digital-based MSMEs, enabling communities to become the main drivers of growth. Meanwhile, in the infrastructure sector, the Papua Provincial Government is committed to accelerating the construction of roads, bridges, ports, and digital networks to reduce living costs and improve mobility.
Fakhiri also emphasized the importance of transparent and accountable regional financial management. “I am not a politician, but a law enforcer. Therefore, caution is essential for anyone working with me,” he stressed. He concluded his speech with a call to maintain unity and work together to build a peaceful and prosperous Papua. “Papua cannot be built with anger, but with love and cooperation,” Fakhiri said.
The Papua People’s Festival, held in the courtyard of the Papua Governor’s Office, began with a thanksgiving service and was enlivened by local MSMEs and performances from both local and national artists. ***
