JAYAPURA — The Papua Provincial Government is strengthening coordination with modern retailers, distributors, and the Logistics Agency to maintain stable food supplies and prices ahead of Christmas, the New Year, and the fasting month in February 2026. This was emphasized by Papua Governor Matius Fakhiri during a direct inspection at several supply points in Jayapura City on Wednesday (3/12/2025).

The inspection covered Hypermart, Saga Abepura, PT Irian Jaya Sehat, Logistic Agency, and Hamadi Central Market. The government confirmed that supplies of rice, cooking oil, sugar, and other essential commodities remain at safe levels through early next year.

“We inspected stock conditions directly on the ground, and all essential goods are sufficiently available to meet the needs for Christmas, New Year, and the upcoming fasting month in February,” Governor Fakhiri said.

“Stable stock levels are key to preventing uncontrolled price fluctuations. Therefore, supplies from distributors must be disciplined and must not be delayed,” he added.

The Logistics Agency of Papua reported rice availability of 22,400 tons in storage, with an additional 11,000 tons currently en route to six provinces in Tanah Papua.

“With a total of 33,700 tons, stock conditions are secure for the next three months,” said the Regional Head of Logistics Agency of Papua, Ahmad Mustari.

Aprindo Papua also confirmed the readiness of the retail network to anticipate demand surges and potential logistical disruptions at the start of the year.

“We have prepared distribution patterns to prevent supply delays, including addressing issues related to shipping and container availability,” said Chair of Aprindo Papua, Haris Manuputty.

The Papua Provincial Government emphasized that field monitoring will continue to ensure smooth distribution flows and stable prices across the region. ***
