JAYAPURA – The Papua Provincial Government, together with the Papua Regional House of Representatives, the Corruption Eradication Commission of the Republic of Indonesia, the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Home Affairs, the Ministry of National Development Planning, and the National Public Procurement Agency, signed an Action Plan for Strengthening Governance in Planning, Budgeting, Public Procurement, and the Management of Special Autonomy Funds in Jayapura on Wednesday (15 July).

The signing marked a follow-up to a governance review facilitated by the Corruption Eradication Commission through its Directorate for Coordination and Supervision Region V, aimed at strengthening good governance and accountability within the Papua Provincial Government.

Papua Vice Governor Aryoko Alberto Rumaropen expressed his appreciation for the Corruption Eradication Commission's continued support, particularly through the Coordination and Supervision Region V Directorate, in assisting the provincial government to build a governance system that is transparent, accountable, and free from corruption.

"The Papua Provincial Government welcomes the assistance provided by the Corruption Eradication Commission through Coordination and Supervision Region V. This initiative represents an important step in strengthening our governance system, improving the quality of planning and budgeting, and ensuring that every development program is implemented effectively, efficiently, and with integrity. We are fully committed to carrying out all of the agreed action plans," the Vice Governor said.

The one-day governance review was led by Maruli Tua, Director of Coordination and Supervision for Region V of the Corruption Eradication Commission, and involved regional government agencies, DPR Papua, as well as representatives from relevant ministries and national institutions.

Discussions focused on several strategic governance areas, including development planning, budgeting, grants and social assistance programs, legislative development proposals submitted by the Papua Regional House of Representatives, regional asset management, public procurement, and the governance of Papua's Special Autonomy Fund.

Through the forum, all stakeholders agreed on a comprehensive action plan that will serve as a roadmap for strengthening regional governance. Key measures include integrating planning, budgeting, and Special Autonomy Fund management through an information system; strengthening coordination on public procurement across regional government agencies and Regional Public Service Agencies; accelerating the completion of administrative and asset management issues following regional administrative expansion; enhancing technical assistance from relevant ministries and national institutions; and submitting regular progress reports on the implementation of the action plan to the Corruption Eradication Commission, the Ministry of Home Affairs, the Ministry of Finance, National Development Planning Agency, and National Public Procurement Agency.

The signing of the action plan reflects the shared commitment of the Papua Provincial Government and all stakeholders to continuously improve the quality of regional governance, strengthen accountability in public financial management, and ensure that every policy and development program delivers the greatest possible benefits to the people of Papua. ***
