JAYAPURA – The Papua Provincial Government is intensifying preparations for the official launch of the 81st Anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Indonesia at the provincial level in 2026. The preparations were discussed during a coordination meeting chaired by Suzana D. Wanggai, Assistant Regional Secretary for Administration and General Affairs and Chair of the Provincial Independence Day Committee, at the Papua Provincial Secretary's Meeting Room on Tuesday (July 28).

The meeting focused on ensuring the readiness of the launch event, which is scheduled to take place on Saturday, August 1, 2026, while confirming that all planned activities will be conducted smoothly, orderly, and provide meaningful benefits to the public.

As part of the Independence Day launch, the Papua Provincial Government will organize a variety of community-oriented activities, including a Car Free Day program, a Fun Walk featuring door prizes, an MSME and Local Farmers' Market, a Fashion Show, a Blood Donation Drive, Health Services, Motor Vehicle Tax Services, Banking Services, and a range of other public services that residents can access directly.

Suzana D. Wanggai said that the commemoration of Indonesia's Independence Day serves as an important opportunity to strengthen unity, togetherness, and the spirit of cooperation while bringing government services closer to the community and promoting local economic growth through the empowerment of micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) and local farmers.

She encouraged all segments of society to actively participate in the celebration.

"I invite all Civil Servants, members of the Indonesian National Armed Forces and the National Police together with their families, all community organizations, and the people of Jayapura City and its surrounding areas to attend and participate in the launch of the 81st Anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Indonesia at the Papua Provincial level. Let us celebrate this historic occasion together in the spirit of unity, solidarity, and patriotism while taking advantage of the various activities and public services that have been prepared for the community," Suzana said.

Through this year's national theme, "A Sovereign, Just, and Prosperous Indonesia," the Papua Provincial Government hopes that the launch of the 81st Independence Day celebration will serve as a momentum to strengthen nationalism, improve the quality of public services, stimulate local economic growth, and reinforce social cohesion in support of the Papua CERAH vision—a Papua that is Smart, Prosperous, and Harmonious. ***
