The Papuan Provincial Government paved the way for the Keerom Government to utilize unused assets for the benefit of economic improvement and the welfare of the Papuan.
The Papuan government's idle asset is a sweet potato factory located in Kampung Arsopura, Skanto District, Keerom Regency. The asset is considered strategic for the development of local farmers, because it has an area of 10 hectares.
"We have a meeting with the Acting Regent of Keerom. Instead of the land being used only by irresponsible people, it is better to be utilized by the Keerom Government," explained the Head of the Office of Industry, Trade, Cooperatives, SMEs and Workers of Papua Province Omah Laduani Ladamay told reporters in Jayapura, Wednesday (4/11/2020).
He confirmed that since the plant was built, the asset has not been operational. Thus, he encouraged the Keerom Government to immediately appoint a cooperative to work on the land owned by the Papuan Government.
"Surely the province will support so that there are parties outside Papua who can accommodate the crops that will be developed in the land around the unused plant".
"We're ready to support whatever the crops," he said.
Built since 2010, the Papuan Government's sweet potato factory is currently out of service. It immediately got attention from the Keerom Government.
Acting Regent Keerom Ridwan Rumasukun who is also an Assistant General Secretary of the Papua Provincial Government, denies this although it has very high economic value when used correctly. Not to mention, the factory was built on an area of 10 hectares.
"That's why we also hope that farmers cooperatives in Keerom who want to use these assets will be able to immediately file with the Papua Provincial Government".
"Keerom government is certainly ready to make a letter of support," he concluded.
