The Agriculture and Horticulture Department of Papua continues to encourage the expansion of red fruit land planting areas, including the preparation of processing into beverages, food, soap and even medicine.
Most recently, the Head of the Agriculture and Horticultural Office of Papua Province, Semuel Siriwa, wanted to encourage Red Fruit (Pandanus conoideus) to become the official drink for athletes as well as official National Sports Week (PON) XX 2020.
"About the expansion of this Red Fruit growing area, we have encouraged it mostly in mountainous areas".
"And of course this Red Fruit become the official drink for National Sports Week and also for foods like noodles, oils and others," Siriwa said.
Especially for Red Fruit drinks, he continued, it has encouraged mass production by the household industry in Papua, but is still constrained by food permits for sale or consumption by the public.
Therefore, he continued to communicate and coordinate with all parties so that the Household Industrial Food Permit (P-IRT) could be issued immediately. "This includes providing healthy and decent packaging," he said.
In addition, it also encourages that the use of Red Fruit is not only consumed for athletes. But it is also a souvenir for those who come to Papua, to watch the matches held at every PON venue.
"And for this we have also built communication with Doctor Made, who has been developing Red Fruit into herbal medicine," he concluded.
