Papua Deputy Governor Klemen Tinal expressed full confidence in the COVID-19 vaccine that the central government is currently working on.
He also asked the public not to hesitate with the COVID-19 vaccine immunization that will be encouraged by the central government, because it is the key to reopening a normal life before the pandemic hit the world a few months ago.
"The COVID-19 vaccine that will be carried out by this government is the same as polio immunizations carried out in children. So, if we have got the vaccine, we are free and can interact socially as before".
"And certainly in a new era, the life of the old era (such as limited activities due to the COVID pandemic) is unlikely to return, because it has changed (where all people are safe from COVID, because they have received immunizations)," explained Deputy Governor Klemen, in Jayapura.
Klemen also believes that when COVID-19 immunization is carried out, there will be no rejection from Papuan. Because he knows very well that the Papuan never reject good things that concern health issues.
"The thing that concerns health I think our society does not reject it (COVID-19 immunization). But it is the duty and responsibility of the government, the province of the city district (to participate in socializing)".
"Government will be tasked with explaining the importance of COVID-19 immunization with its partners. Including religious leaders, community leaders, family harmony to the district level. I'm sure people will receive this vaccination," he said.
Meanwhile, Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture Muhadjir Effendy during his working visit in Jayapura, confirmed the timing of the distribution of the COVID-19 vaccine by the central government, will be announced by President Jokowi.
For now, he continued, the government is looking at making vaccines and preparing trained health workers, so that the provision of vaccines can run properly and correctly.
In addition, the government is awaiting the permission of the emergency use authorization (EUA) of the Food and Drug Administration (BPOM).
"Only after there is a guarantee from BPOM, and if the procedure can be said to be safe with accurate data then it can be circulated".
“If it has been tested at level three or to humans, and it is already safe, then if this requirement is completed, then a new vaccine will be circulated," he concluded.
