The logo, mascot, tagline, theme and jingle of National Paralympic Week XVI 2021, was officially released by the National Paralympic Week Committee.
The launch was held at the Papua Governor's Office, Jayapura, Friday (11/27/20) night, by the Daily Chairman of National Paralympic Week XVI Committee of Papua, Doren Wakerkwa through the pressing of the siren button which was then greeted by fireworks for about five minutes.
In his speech, Acting Secretary of Papua Doren Wakerkwa said that the launch of Logo, Mascot, Tagline theme and Jingle as one of the series to prepare for the National Paralympic Week event in The Land of Papua.
"This launching is the basis for our preparation as hosts, Logo, Mascot, Tagline theme and Jingle has a connection with the customs and culture of Papuan," he said.
Deputy Governor of Papua Klemen Tinal welcomed the launching of the National Paralympic Week (Peparnas) XVI.
"We are very happy with the launch of National Paralympic Week is good, because National Sports Week is one package with which National Paralympic Week will be done next year, we always remember National Sports Week but still forget National Paralympic Week,” he told reporters, Friday (11/27/2020).
According to him, the implementation of National Sports Week XX 2021 a package with National Paralympic Week but it has different implementation.
"The implementation is one week after the implementation of National Sports Week, so that all our people in Indonesia participate in this event," he said.
He assessed that the presence of National Sports Week and National Paralympic Week in Papua, can provide motivation and trust to all parties that Papua Province is ready to implement both National Sports Week and National Paralympic Week.
"This is a testament to our readiness to organize these two national events," he said.
While the logo launched is a combination of Honai and Tifa. Where Honai symbolizes a family shelter, a gathering place for the community to plan all activities and solve community problems
Then 3 Tifa symbolizes 3 furnaces of strength, namely government, people and customs.
National Paralympic Week tagline is "one heart achieve the goal of creating achievements" taken from the philosophy of Honai which is a traditional house in a circular or round shape.
Meanwhile, two mascots of National Paralympic Week are named Hara and Wara. Where the two mascots are cassowary birds or species of typical Papuan animals that can be found in the forest areas of Papua.
The reason for cassowary selection is because it is found throughout Papua, it is proven by the existence of the name Cassowary in the local language.
From the many local cultures and languages in Papua, Htwar is chosen from Tobati language in Jayapura City and Augangge from Asey language of Jayapura Regency as the venue for National Paralympic Week.
From both languages become Hara for the mention of male Cassowary, Wara for the mention of female Cassowary.
