The Provincial Government of Papua through the Department of Industry, Trade, Cooperatives, SMEs and Labor, agreed with the local Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin), jointly seeking to boost the economic growth of the region currently being hit by the COVID-19 pandemic.
One of the efforts, namely synergy to improve the empowerment of cooperatives and MSMEs / SMEs (small and medium micro enterprises / small and medium industries) through the approach of making indigenous Papuan become masters over their own country.
This agreement was reached during the morning coffee of the Industry, Trade and Cooperatives Department with the Chamber of Commerce and Industry management of Papua, Monday (7/19/2021), in Jayapura.
"We agree with the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Papua that building the Papuan economy, with the approach of Papuans should be the owner (master or leader of cooperatives, MSMEs). Right now, that's what we are targeting in the future," explained the Head of Papua Industry, Trade and Cooperatives Department , Omah Laduani Ladamay.
Omah Laduani also appreciated the agreement, because it has produced a synergy that is not far away even in line with the vision and mission of the Governor of Papua. Moreover, nowadays, the ranks of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Papua are filled by millennials.
"And we strongly believe that the millennial in the Chamber of Commerce and Industry Papua will improve and grow the Papuan economy in the future".
Meanwhile, Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry Papua, Ronald Antonio Bonai also expressed his desire to improve the regional economy through the empowerment of MSMEs and SMEs.
Among other things, by holding training for people in the field of entrepreneurship to create labor which is a solution to reduce the unemployment rate.
"That's why we and the Department of Industry immediately formed a working team to carry out what has been agreed. And it will be contained in an employment agreement or a signatory to the memorandum of understanding," he said.
On that occasion, Ronald conveyed the desire of a number of investors to invest in Papua.
He hopes that it can be realized soon to be able to improve the economy in Papua.
