JAYAPURA - Papua Governor Lukas Enembe hopes that the award for medal-winning athletes and coaches at the National Sports Week XX can be motivation to fight harder for higher achievements.
"The training of athletes must continue to be improved, do not waste time. From now on, let's continue to train, because our time towards the next multi-event is very short," Lukas said after attending a joint worship event and an appreciation night for National Sports Week athletes and coaches in Papua Bangkit Stadium on Saturday night.
Lukas on that occasion also advised that athletes can take advantage of the facilities and infrastructure that have been built magnificently, to realize the goal of achieving even better achievements at the national and international levels.
Meanwhile, at the end of the National Sports Week standings table, the Papua Provincial Contingent was ranked fourth with 93 gold medals, 66 silver medals and 102 bronze medals. This result has exceeded the initial target of 84 gold medals and ranked fifth.
For this reason, Governor Enembe expressed his pride and happiness to be among the champions and sports patriots who have made the name of the Papua region, on a night of appreciation for athletes and coaches and officials.
The distribution of bonuses is considered reasonable because there is effort and hard work from the athletes and coaches of the pride of Papua.
"Therefore, I congratulate all gold, silver and bronze medalists hopefully at National Sports Week XXI 2024 in Sumatra and Aceh we can maintain it or it should be better".
"I also hope that this award can bring a new spirit and joy to the athletes, especially for athletes, coaches and officials who will celebrate Christmas," he concluded. ***
