JAYAPURA - Head of the Regional Planning and Development Agency (Bappeda) of Papua Province, Yohanis Walilo said the implementation of Law No. 21 of 2001 on Special Autonomy for Papua, has actually been felt by the people of Papua.
This can be seen from the implementation of infrastructure development that has been done by provincial and district / city governments in Papua.
"For example, the construction of roads that use funds from Special Autonomy. In addition, there is an exemption of tuition fees from kindergarten to scholarship programs at the college level".
"And certainly to support the implementation of development in districts / cities, the Papua Provincial Government distributes 80 percent of Special Autonomy funds to support development in the region," Walilo explained at the launch of a book entitled "track record of Special Autonomy implementation 2002-2020 took place in Sasana Krida Papua Governor's Office, Thursday (9/12/2021).
According to him, the book published by the Papua Provincial Government was presented to dismiss the assumptions of various parties who stated that the Papua Special Autonomy did not succeed.
On the other hand, the existence of books aims to erode the assumption that the Special Autonomy Law is only limited to programs.
"So if you say it doesn't work, maybe the person. Therefore, we launch this book to be able to uncover whether it succeeds or not. And it turns out that after dissecting, it was about 70-80 percent successful, although it was not visible," he said.
Walilo hopes that all residents will read the book published by the Papua Provincial Government. So that if there is a correction or incorrect data, continued Walilo, his party is ready to accept the input and criticism of the suggestion.
"Only to know that this book was compiled by experts to uncover the true facts about the implementation of Special Autonomy so far.
"So, I just want to read this book, if there is a correction and others please convey," he said.
