JAYAPURA - The Farmer Exchange Rate (NTP) of Papua Province was recorded at 100.72 or decreased by 0.41 percent in April 2022 compared to March of 101.13 or 0.11 percent.
The decline in the Farmer Exchange Rate occurred because the change in the price index received by farmers by 0.24 percent was slower than the change in the price index paid by farmers by 0.66 percent.
"The National Farmer Exchange Rate in April 2022 amounted to 108.46 or decreased by 0.76 percent compared to the previous month," explained Head of the Papua Central Statistics Agency (BPS) Adriana Helena Carolina in Jayapura, Tuesday (10/5/2022).
The Farmer Exchange Rate is a comparison of the price index received by farmers against the price index paid by farmers where this is one of the indicators to see the level of ability or purchasing power of farmers in rural areas.
It also shows the exchange power of agricultural products with goods and services consumed as well as for production costs.
"The Farmer Exchange Rate also shows the exchange power (term of trade) of agricultural products with goods and services consumed and for production costs. So the higher the Farmer Exchange Rate, the stronger the level of ability or purchasing power of farmers," she said again.
Adriana added, of the 34 provinces conducted by the farmer exchange rate count in April 2022 showed that 14 provinces experienced an increase while 20 other provinces experienced a decrease, West Kalimantan Province recorded the highest increase in Farmer Exchange Rate by 1.44 percent and South Kalimantan Province recorded the deepest decrease by 2.21 percent. ***
