JAYAPURA - The number of passengers departing by sea transportation in March 2022 as recorded by the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) of Papua Province, increased by 23.59 percent, from 6,016 people in February 2022 to 7,435 people.
According to the Head of BPS Papua Province, Adriana Helena Carolina, in Jayapura, Tuesday, the sea transportation data was recorded from Jayapura and Merauke ports.
Nevertheless, the number of passengers arriving by sea transportation in March 2022 decreased by 11.54 percent, from 7,450 people in February 2022 to 6,590 people.
"Moreover, there is a circular letter of the Task Force handling COVID-19 No.11/2022 which is effective from (8/3) Domestic Travelers (PPDN) who have received a second dose of vaccination or third dose vaccination (booster) are not required to show a negative result of RT-PCR test or rapid antigen test".
"The existence of this national policy in general has a positive effect on the development of sea and air transportation in Papua province with the increasing flow of passengers and loading and unloading of goods during March 2022," she explained.
It is known that the volume of goods loaded in March 2022 was recorded at 22,281 tons, up 25.59 percent compared to its volume in February 2022 which amounted to 17,741 tons.
The volume of goods unloaded in March 2022 was recorded at 129,121 tons or an increase of 2.96 percent compared to its volume in February 2022 which was 125,408 tons. ***
