JAYAPURA - The remission of 1,631 inmates living in prisons in Papua was officially granted by the Ministry of Law and Human Rights of Papua Province.
The granting of remission in the framework of the 77th of the Independence Day of the Republic of Indonesia, which is also applied to prisoners throughout Indonesia.
"The total remissions who received remissions in Papua were 1,631 people, of which from the contents of prisons in Papua today amounted to 2,844 people," said Head of the Regional Office of the Papuan Ministry of Law and Human Rights, Anthonius Ayorbaba, in Jayapura, Tuesday.
Of the 1,631 people who received remission, eight were immediately free or received General Remission Two (RU-II). While the rest get a reduced sentence period.
"The eight people who get RU-II consist of a three-month reduced criminal term of one person, two months and two people, and the remaining one month," he said.
It is known that the grant of remission is an inmate's RIGHT granted when a person carries out a punishment of more than six months and does not commit an offense.
The reduced sentence period given to 1,631 inmates consisted of one month to 266 people, two months remission 287 people, three months remission 554 people, four months 279 people, five months 197 people and six months 44 people. ***
