JAYAPURA - Minister of Law and Human Rights, Yasonna H Laoly asked the regent and mayor in The Land of Papua to help local Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), register Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) of all their trademarks, in order to get legal guarantees and certainty in trading.
This was conveyed by Minister Yasonna in his remarks at an activity entitled "Ministry of Law and Human Rights Serves Papua", Monday (22/8/2022) at Sasana Krida, Papua Governor's Office, Jayapura City.
Meanwhile, with the protection of intellectual property rights, local MSMEs are expected to have competitiveness and be able to spur increased creativity and innovation for national economic recovery.
"In accelerating the progress of a country, it is not enough to depend on natural wealth. Nowadays, the world depends on innovation and creativity," he said.
The owner of The Phokouw Faa Batik MSME, Dominikus Yawa, who exhibited his products during the Visit of the Minister of Law and Human Rights, stated that he had registered the copyrights for his six batik graphic designs.
"This batik design comes from Biak, Boven Digoel, Merauke and others. Because our MSMEs consist of graduates of ISBI Papua students from various regions," he said.
He also felt proud after the copyright of his product was registered with the Papuan Ministry of Law and Human Rights. ***
