JAYAPURA - The Papua Communication and Informatics Department (Diskominfo) organizes digital literacy activities in the Yapen and Sarmi Regencies. The activity targets young people in the region to be technologically literate, get additional education so that they can sort out information correctly.
"Digital literacy is the knowledge and skills of users in utilizing digital media, such as communication tools, internet networks and so on. This digital media is in addition to being a communication tool can be a tool to ward off hoaxes".
"Therefore, we are now targeting the youth of Yapen and Sarmi Regencies to hold digital literacy in the two regions. With the hope that the formation of a community that can influence other youth, so that youth in Papua can have information that is both news and through social media," explained the Head of the Papua Communication and Informatics Department, Jeri A. Yudianto in Jayapura, Friday (30/9/2022).
According to Jeri, there will be many advantages if all regions have the community to care about digital literacy. We can't educate each other about how to play healthy social media.
"In essence, digital literacy is an important part for people throughout Indonesia, especially in Papua, for this reason, his party and the center continue to conduct education with local youth."
"We carried out digital literacy in Kampung Enggros and Tobati, Jayapura City, as well as several other schools both at the junior high and high school levels as well as Papuan youth. At least digital literacy is a program of the Communication and Informatics Department for how the community of people who care about digital literacy can be present in Papua," he said.
He added that by increasing literacy for the Papuan people, it is also hoped that it can have an impact on the quality of the Human Development Index (HDI). ***
