JAYAPURA - The Papua Marine and Fisheries Service (DKP) hopes that the fish cooking competition, which is an annual routine activity at the agency, can encourage the opening of business opportunities to improve the family economy.
"Besides we are trying to popularize fish eating, through this activity we hope to create new entrepreneurs who then open up jobs in the private sector," explained the Head of the Papua Province Marine and Fisheries Service, Iman Djuniawal, in Jayapura, Thursday (11/17/2022), on the sidelines of the activity.
According to Iman, the competition activity is also part of an effort to reduce stunting rates through the movement to promote eating fish (GEMARIKAN).
Moreover, fish is one of the commodities that is cheap and easy to get, easy to process and can be consumed by anyone.
"Therefore, there needs to be regular activities such as this competition to promote eating fish. And indeed this all-fish cooking competition is intended for TP-PKK at the district and city levels, while the innovation competition made from raw fish is intended for young people under the age of 25 years".
"So the winner of this competition will participate in national-level competition in 2023," he said. ***
