JAYAPURA - The leadership period of Governor Lukas Enembe as regional head in Papua Province has entered its final chapter.
Even so, the Spokesperson of the Governor of Papua, Muhammad R. Darus, assessed that there are still many eyes that have not been opened about the rapid efforts of the Papua Provincial Government under the leadership of Lukas Enembe and (alm) Klemen Tinal in building the body and building the soul of the land of Papua.
Not only is the public's view in the national scope, but there are many Indigenous Papuans who have not yet got a complete picture of the development resulting from the Governor and his staff.
"Why is this important to disseminate? As a leader, he will feel reverence in his future retirement if his labors can be known and remembered".
"The governor certainly does not think about how people should get information about what he has done, because he is sincere in building Papua and wants to leave a noble legacy to his successor," he said, in Jayapura, Sunday (4/12/2022).
Therefore, continued the spokesperson, all the results of work in the form of development carried out by the Governor and his staff must be translated and conveyed to the public at large.
"I have high hopes for the press in Papua. Sometimes we forget, that journalism is the basic ingredient to ensure a democratic system can run".
"Because when elements of government have fulfilled all their duties and responsibilities, the press is expected to play a role in conveying them to the general public," he said.
Sure, he added, not for an image, but the result of the work is a form of accountability that should be known to the people.
"So that the people can judge, can correct, and can give criticism or praise. So, the government in the next period has a comprehensive picture of what kind of development is ideal, what is needed, or that can be enjoyed directly by the community," continued spokesperson.
One thing to remember, said Rifai, is the extraordinary success made by Papua in organizing PON XX in 2021.
The governor certainly wants Papua to become like other cities in the world that have complete infrastructure in the scope of sports, such as Melbourne, Tokyo, Los Angeles, Manchester, Doha, and many other cities.
"Therefore, I hope that the story of LUKMEN's struggle in developing Papua can be captured by media, in written, videos, photos, infographics or other outputs that can be widely consumed by the community," he said. ***
