JAYAPURA - Acting Assistant for Economic Affairs and People's Welfare, Suzana Wanggai, received a visit from the British Embassy to Indonesia led by Second Secretary of Political Affairs NICK Faulner, in Jayapura City, Wednesday (15/5/2024).
Assistant Suzana appreciated the visit which had a noble purpose to offer Chevening Scholarships for improving the human resources of Papuan civil servants.
"We hope there will be more quotas for Papua, to increase human resource capacity, including civil servants in Papua Province.
"Moreover, the government's current focus is on building education, health and the economy, in addition to other supporting sectors. Including describing the potential of Papua after the New Autonomous Regions which is also focused on marine and agricultural potential," he explained.
Nick Faulkner, Second Secretary of Political Affairs at the British Embassy to Indonesia, said the visit was to introduce more about the Chevening Scholarship program. So far there are not many alumni from Papua.
"We have great attention to increasing the capacity of Papuan human resources," he said.
While the meeting went very smoothly, the agenda also discussed various strategic issues in Papua, including protection for women and children.
Also present at the meeting were several heads of related Regional Unit Work. ***
