JAYAPURA - During the visit to Yapen, Waropen and Supiori Islands Regencies, the Papuan PKK Mobilization Team encouraged chili planting.
The chili planting program, which began in 2023, aims to support the government's program in reducing inflation in the region.
"All PKK cadres in our area are encouraged to plant chili. This program has proven it could control inflation in areas affected by chili prices," said the Acting Chairperson of the Papuan PKK, Linda Onibala on the sidelines of the working visit, Friday (28/6/2024).
In addition, Linda said, PKK cadres are also actively involved in the polio immunization program. The efforts of PKK cadres in the regions have helped increase polio immunization coverage.
"For example, in Waropen Regency, there are currently only 900 children left, while Supiori is still around 2,000 more. So, PKK cadres are also moving in villages to encourage residents to bring their children to receive polio sweet drops."
"In essence, we hope that the working visit of the Acting Governor of Papua and his staff will have a positive impact on the region. Including increasing the enthusiasm of PKK cadres in carrying out their duties which is the spearhead of implementing government programs," she said.
Meanwhile, during a working visit to three districts, the Papuan PKK handed over assistance in the form of a package of anthropometric tools, additional food and vegetable seeds.
The distribution of aid was carried out during a working visit by the Acting Governor of Papua, Ridwan Rumasukun from June 27 to 28, 2024.
"As a partner, the government continues to support the government's priority programs."
"Such as reducing stunting rates, inflation and helping to reduce extreme poverty rates," she said. ***
